Why we are allowed to use it

Under POPIA, we may process your personal information because:

  • You gave us your consent, for example by filling in a form
  • We need it to provide a service you asked for
  • We have a legitimate business reason, such as keeping our services secure
  • We are required to by law

Who we share it with

We keep your information private. We only share it where we have to, and only with parties who are required to protect it. This may include:

  • Our hosting and infrastructure providers, who store the data that keeps our services running
  • Our secure payment processor, who handles your payments
  • Tools we use to send email and run our website
  • Government, legal or regulatory bodies, where the law requires it

We never sell or rent your information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies. Cookies are small files saved on your device that help the website work and help us understand how it is used.

  • Essential cookies keep the website working properly, for example remembering items in your cart at checkout.
  • Analytics cookies help us see how people use the website so we can make it better.

You can turn cookies off in your browser settings at any time. If you do, some parts of the website may not work as well.

How long we keep it

We only keep your personal information for as long as we need it:

  • Enquiries and call back requests: kept while we are helping you and for a reasonable time after
  • Customer and billing records: kept for as long as you are a customer, and afterwards for the period the law requires us to keep financial records
  • Support tickets: kept while open and for a reasonable time after they are resolved

When we no longer need your information, we delete it or make it anonymous.

How we keep it safe

We take the safety of your information seriously. We use secure connections, access controls and trusted infrastructure to protect your data. While no system online can ever be promised as one hundred percent secure, we work hard to keep your information protected and to fix any problems quickly.

Your rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct information that is wrong
  • Ask us to delete your information, where we are not required to keep it
  • Object to how we use your information
  • Withdraw your consent at any time
  • Complain to the Information Regulator if you are unhappy with how we handle your information

To use any of these rights, email us at legal@yanooka.com and we will help you.
